PG-P05 - Crystarium Point Farming

As I mentioned from previous section, when you completed mission 62, all tortoises on Archylte Steppe will be gone forever which is something we do not want to do it right now.

This is a break time where you need to killer weaker tortoises first before moving to farming Adamantortoise and Adamantoise. It is also a good time to prepare a proper equipment and party members.

Preparation

Gaian Rings

  1. First, we need 3 Gaian Rings, they help reduce Earth element attacks from tortoises. In order to get Gaian Ring, you have to upgrade Clay Ring -> Siltstone Ring -> Gaian Ring. Up until now, you should have 2 Clay Rings and 1 Siltstone Ring including necessary catalysts if you follow my guide.

  2. Go to Shop -> Lenora's Garage, then buy 50 Superconductors.

  3. We'll upgrade our 2 Clay Ring to 2 Gaian Rings. Go to "Upgrade" then use the following components in order: Superconductor (x2), Cobaltite (x1), Superconductor (x5), Uraninite (x1), Superconductor (x8).Now upgrade the 1 Siltstone Ring to Gaian Ring: Superconductor (x9), Uraninite (x1), Superconductor (x8).

Connoisseur Catalog

  1. Connoisseur Catalog helps increase your chance of getting rare drop from enemies. This is very helpful during your tortoise farming especially when you need to farm Dark Matter from Shaolong Gui later on.

  2. We can get Connoisseur Catalog by upgrading Collector Catalog with the following: Superconductor (x3), Mnar Stone (x1).

CP + Gold Grinding

We have all necessary accessories for our grinding. Next, I want you to check the game settings if you have an option to change difficulty from "Normal" to "Easy". Usually, if you have a newer version or on PC you should have this option. The reason is that you can change the difficulty any time during your gameplay, however, for the sake of grinding, it is ABSOLUTELY unnecessary to waste your time on "Normal" mode. Once you finished your grinding, you can change the difficulty back to "Normal".

At this point of the game, you can't really beat Adamantortoise for a whopping of 80,000 CP. That's why "Easy" mode enable you to easily kill Adamantortoise.

If you can change to "Easy" mode, skip to "Option 2". Either option that is available to you, farm until you maxed out all 6 roles.

Option 1: Farming Adamanchelid

If you choose this option means that you either want to play on "Normal" mode or you don't have difficulty option that can change to "Easy" mode.

Adamanchelid is a baby tortoise which is easy to kill but has far less CP than its adult form. It drops "Gold Dust" that can sell for 15,000 gil or "Scarletite" as a rare drop.

Equipment setup:

  • Fang: Venus Gospel, Sprint Shoes, Power Glove, Gaian Ring, Genji Glove
  • Lightning: Enkindler, Sprint Shoes, Warrior's Wristband, Gaian Ring, Growth Egg
  • Vanille: Malboro Wand, Sprint Shoes, Weirding Glyph, Collector Catalog, gaian Ring

Paradigms (Fang/Lightning/Vanille):

  • SAB/MED/SAB (default)
  • RAV/RAV/RAV
  • COM/COM/RAV

There are 3 Adamanchelids at the Eastern Tors of Archylte Steppe. Start from a Save Point at the entrance, after you killed 3 of them, come back to save your game and walk pass the Save Point a few more steps to allow them to respawn. Repeat this until you maxed out at least 4 roles. One loop takes about 4 minutes to complete and give you 27,300 CP and about 2 "Gold Dust" equalavent to 30,000 gil.

Once you maxed out at least 4 roles, you should be able to move on to option 2 even with "Normal" mode.

Strategy:

  • Start with SAB/MED/SAB and use "auto-hinder" until "Imperil", "Deshell", "Deprotect" sticked.
  • Switch to RAV/RAV/RAV until it's staggered.
  • Switch to COM/COM/RAV and finish it in one turn.

Option 2: Farming Adamantortoise

Equipment setup:

  • Fang: Venus Gospel, Power Glove, Warrior's Wristband, Gaian Ring, Genji Glove
  • Lightning: Enkindler, Collector Catalog (Easy mode) or Connoisseur Catalog (Normal mode), Gaian Ring, Growth Egg, Warrior's Wristband
  • Vanille: Malboro Wand, Weirding Glyph, Sorcerer's Mark, Sorcerer's Mark, gaian Ring

Paradigms (Fang/Lightning/Vanille):

  • COM/RAV/RAV (default)
  • SEN/MED/MED
  • SAB/MED/SAB
  • RAV/RAV/RAV
  • COM/COM/RAV

Adamantortoise is the one standing at the entrance of Eastern Tors of Archylte Steppe. Start at the Save Point at the entrance, after you kill the Adamantortoise, com back to save your game then reload and repeat. Sadly, Adamantortoise doesn't seem to respawn even if you walk far enough. So, reloading the game is faster to repeat the process. The battle itself takes about 5 minutes or 6 minutes including walking back and forth, but if you max out all roles and weapons the during is only about 2 minutes. Adamantortoise yields 80,000 CP with Growth Egg and 50% (or higher on Easy mode) chance of getting Platinum Ingot with Collector Catalog which can sell for 150,000 gil. This option is definitely far better than option 1. Alright, so you need to farm until you maxed out all 6 roles.

Strategy: Unlike Adamanchelid, Adamantortoise has 2 front legs that you have take down before you can deal true damage to its body, so your first priority is to focus on attacking the two legs first.

  • Start with COM/RAV/RAV and attack "Left Foreleg", it should be the default selection. The leg should also be staggered in one turn. Keep raising the stagger meter until it's around 350% or a bit higher.
  • Manually select "Highwind" ability from "Ability" menu. "Highwind" is a unique ability of Fang that deal massive damage in a single hit. The higher the stagger meter, the higher the damage. So using Highwind at 350% should be enough to take it out.
  • Keep an eye on Adamantoise's actions. Whenever it raises it leg or uses "Quake", quickly switch to SEN/MED/MED to reduce the damage taken as well as healing. Sentinel role has a passive ability that reduce damage taken on all members regardless you use any guard ability or not. Once you have taken the damage, immediately switch back to COM/RAV/RAV.
  • Repeat this process on the other "Right Foreleg".
  • When two of the front legs are down, the Adamantoise will fall and paralyzed for a while (about 8 turns to 10 turns). This is when you deal true damage. During its fall, switch to SAB/MED/SAB. Manually select 5 Imperil from Ability menu and cast it on tortoise while Vanille should be automatically cast Deshell and Deprotect.
  • Once you see Imperil, Deshell, and Deprotect sticked on the tortoise, switch to RAV/RAV/RAV to quickly stagger. Then switch between COM/RAV/RAV and COM/COM/RAV for damage.
  • Finally, when it is about to get up, use Fang's Highwind ability then quickly switch back to SEN/MED/MED because 80 percent of the time, it will stomp the ground twice and use one "Quake" after getting up so watch out for this consecutive attacks.
  • Repeat the whole process.
  • Thing will get easier when you can kill the tortoise in one stagger, so I suggest you keep leveling every 3 or 4 kills so that your characters get stronger over time.
