C11-P02 - Cie'th Stone Mission and Level Farming

Okay, you should have received a tutorial about the Cie'th Stone and Missions. There are a total of 64 missions (64 Cie'th Stones) to complete. So let me explain how this works:

  • Your goal is to kill the Mark (monsters) as quick as possible to get 5-stars rating. To get the 5-stars rating you must complete the battle before the target time.
  • but the stronger you are the less target time you get, what a bummer.
  • Accessories that have effect does not reduce your target time such as Sprint Shoes, Auto-Protect, or Auto-Shell etc., so make sure you take full advantage of this.
  • Preemptive Strike has a huge advantage to complete these missions, try sneaking up on the target enemies whenever possible (you can always "Retry" if you fail).
  • Trying to level up more if you cannot beat the next missions or think that you cannot go further.
  • You can always fight the same mission again and again by talking to the Cie'th Stones. This is useful when you need to get full intel of new enemies.
  • If you cannot get full intel from the targets for the first time, you should fight them again.
  • if you think you cannot get 5-stars for the first try, you can always pause and "Retry" so that you don't have to walk back to activate the mission again.
  • Lastly, I have listed recommended party members, paradigms, and strategies, but if you have a different opinion or idea to complete the mission, feel free to ignore it and go with whatever you see fit.

Now turn around, you'll see a Save Point. Before you save the game, let reorganize our party members first because it's really messed up from the last battle. As I mentioned above, start from now on, you are free to use whoever and whatever paradigms you like. It is all up to you. However, I still want to give you a recommendation below:

Paradigms (Fang/Lightning/Hope):

  • COM/RAV/RAV (default)
  • SAB/MED/SYN
  • SEN/MED/SYN
  • SEN/MED/MED
  • COM/RAV/MED
  • COM/COM/RAV

For equipment, remove Magician's Mark and Shaman's Mark from Vanille and equip them on Hope.

That's all for now. Let's save the game first. Before you start doing any missions, I suggest to get yourself used to this area and farm a little bit because at this point of the game you are just too weak. You probably can't beat larger monsters, so best you can do is kill those smaller monsters for now.

Level Grinding (Optional)

This section is optional but highly recommended because it makes your life so much easier after you maxed out 2 main roles. There is a good spot for farming level at Mah'habara. To go there, just follow the yellow mark (or walk toward the Moon). Once you reach the area, keep going forward and pick up an item (T-01) along the way. When you see a left path, take it and fight your way through to the dead-end with 5 Hoplites.

  •     - WEAPON (T-01): Hauteclaire (x1)

This is the battle we want to keep fighting because it yields 3850 CP which is really good at this point. Once you kill the 5 Hoplites, walk toward the dead-end you'll be fighting a Juggernaut (you can't win anyway), so press "Start" and "Select" buttons to retry. You'll appear at the same spot with 5 Hoplites behind you. You can sneak up on them for Preemptive Strike which is nice to speed up your farming. Now repeat the process by Killing the Hoplites, walk up to Juggernaut, Retry, kill the Hoplites again.

Note: watch out for your CP because it caps at 999,999.
For this farming, I recommend you maximize at least 2 primary roles for Fang, Lightning, and Hope in the following order:

  • Fang: Commando > Saboteur > Sentinel
  • Lightning: Ravager > Commando > Medic
  • Hope: Synergist > Ravager > Medic
  • Vanille: Saboteur > Ravager > Medic
  • Snow: Sentinel > Commando > Ravager
  • Sazh: Synergist > Commando > Ravager

When you maxed out the first main role, you can easily spam "Auto-battle" (COM/RAV/RAV) on the 5 Hoplites.

Once you maxed out 2 main roles above, it's time to test our strength with our buddy Juggernaut.

  • ENEMY (E-01): Juggernaut (x1)
Strategy: Set your default paradigm to SAB/MED/SYN
    • This guy is weak against debuffs, so it's perfect that you've already maxed out Saboteur for Fang. Keep casting debuffs on him until Hope used 5 or 6 buffs on your party.
    • Switch to COM/RAV/RAV or COM/RAV/MED (if you need healing).
    • Once he is staggered, switch to COM/COM/RAV for damage.
    • Keep an eye "Steam Clean", this ability can remove all debuffs you put on him. If he did use this, switch back to SAB/MED/SYN.
    • Repeat the process, you should be able to kill him in 2 staggers.

Pick up an item that he guarded.

  • ACCESSORY (T-02): Platinum Bangle (x1)

It's time we do our missions so let's go back to our first mission stone at Archylte Steppe.
