Introduction
Unlike other Final Fantasy games, FFXIII has a unique battle system with a linear storyline. you don't get to do much in early to mid game. Level grinding is unnecessary until you reach chapter 11 where the fun begins. While monsters do not spawn randomly, instead, they are station in a specific spot, which means that if you kill all monsters along your way through your journey, you should have enough power and items to kill bosses to progress the game.
From chapter 1 to chapter 11, the paths are very straight forward. When you reach chapter 11 you can to explore the world of Pulse freely. So, until you reach that point, I do not recommend to spend time farming either EXP or Gil.
Characters
There are 6 main Characters, each of them has a unique strength and role.
- Lightning has a balance stats between Commando and Ravager role, but slightly on the Ravager side.
- Fang has the highest strength among the six. her main role is Commando, follow by Saboteur.
- Snow's main role is Sentinel since he has high HP many of abilities focus on defend and taunt enemies. Besides being a tank for the team, he is a decent Commando and Ravager.
- Vanille she has high magic power with many powerful debuff skills. Her main role is Saboteur follow by Medic and Ravager.
- Hope is a great Synergist with many buff abilities to support team. Similar to Vanille, his second role being Ravager and Medic.
- Sazh, his main role is Ravager, but he is also a good Synergist and Commando.
Keep in mind that these roles don't define how you play but rather how the game intended us how to use these characters. Of course, you can have Lightning as Medic Fang as Ravager, and Snow as Commando depending on your play style.

There are total of six roles in the game. Each person has 3 primary roles and 3 secondary roles.

I will not explain how to play the game since there is in-game tutorial for beginners nor I spoil the story because story is a big part of Role Playing Games.
There is a list of things to keep in mind when following this guide:
- You should always fight every battles listed because they give your enough experiences (Crystarium Point) in order to process the game.
- Pick up all items listed because some of them are missable and will not available to purchase in any shops.
